Here at Whiteboards and Pinboards, we’re getting behind the effort to reduce the number of men who prematurely die each year from suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. This month, the lads around the office are putting the razor down and donning their most impressive (or filthiest) moustaches for Movember.
On average, men die 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. 1 in 6 Australian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, while testicular cancer is the most common cancer among younger men. Movember raises vital funds which contribute to developments in early detection, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support for men affected by these diseases.
Globally, a man takes his own life every single minute. Movember looks at mental health through a male lens, focusing on prevention, early intervention and working towards a world where men take action to be mentally well and feel supported by those around them to speak up.
Since its inception, Movember has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects in Australia and around the world, and by 2030 aims to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%.
From the caterpillar to the horseshoe, we’re getting hairy in the name of supporting this worthy cause. Get behind us and show our Mo Bros some love here: https://au.movember.com/team/2337438
